Corey Seager officially received his first promotion to Triple-A today. He’s hitting fifth and playing shortstop for the Oklahoma City Dodgers in their game against the Iowa Cubs.
At Double-A Tulsa, Seager batted .375 with five homers and 15 RBIs over 20 games. He finished his stint tied for the Texas League lead with 30 hits and ranked among the top three in homers, slugging percentage (.675), extra-base hits (13), and total bases (54).
Seager was the Dodgers’ 2014 Branch Rickey Co-Minor League Player of the Year and entered 2015 ranked as the organization’s top prospect by Baseball America and MLB.com.
Update (8:20 p.m.): Seager had two singles and reached on an error in his debut. He played nine errorless innings at shortstop in the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ 5-4 win over the Iowa Cubs.
